100 days

Today marks the 100th day of Mom's death. She passed away last October due to pneumonia. The 3 months after that have been hectic. I had to settle all the documents and take over the accounts and bills. My sister got married in December (the wedding was confirmed in advance before Mom's death) and has since moved out. My maid also transferred back to her former employer. So now I am staying all alone at home. It's not been easy coping with the changes. I have always been a solitary person. However, the silence of an empty household can be paradoxically deafening and overwhelming.

I miss Mom a lot. I miss the walks downstairs at the park. I miss the goodnight kisses I used to give her before I sleep. The selfish part of me wish that she had pulled through that fateful night in the hospital. I want her to live on for another few more years. I want to be with her despite her worsening condition (she suffered from a degenerative disease which left her speechless and paralysed for the last two years). The only consolation for me is the fact that she does not need to suffer in pain anymore. She is resting in peace now. I love you, Mom.

School's over! Staff Welfare Committee organised a trip to Singapore Flyer. Only need to pay $10. My comments on the Flyer? For $10, can ride the Flyer to see see look look. Not that I never see Singapore city skyline. Last time at my old workplace, I used to see such views everyday. But I understand that some people really never see Singapore from the sky before so they were ooohing and aaahing throughout the 30-minute ride. Oh well. Anyway, $10 is the max I'll pay. No way I'll ever pay full fare of close to $30 to ride the Flyer again.

dunno how to rate cloverfield. i read very mixed reactions to it. some people loved it while others hated it. even got reports of people who wanted to vomit in cinema or walked out due to giddiness and motion sickness. definitely different from normal movies. everything filmed from 1st person point of voice of the victim video camera. so lots of jerky camera movements. no one walked out of the cinema i was in. but a group of guys complained non-stop after the movie ended about how it was not worth the money! it was definitely short - about 1 hour 15 minutes.

i did feel a slight headache after i got home - delayed reaction! the question most people are asking - can see monster or not? well, definitely cannot see in full. but can see enough to know that it is not godzilla. more like a giant mutated monster. pretty ugly actually. worth paying money to watch the show? pretty subjective. i would recommend other movies currently playing such as michael clayton and american gangster.

finally, here are the 2 jedi starfighters i bought. with 20% discount, very worth it! but not opening them yet koz no space to display.

I just could not resist. Starhub had irresistible offer on Nokia 6110 Navigator. So I recontracted my line for another 2 years and paid $268 for the phone. GPS function is way too cool! I promise this will be my last purchase of 2007! By the way, Happy Christmas and Merry New Year to everyone!

got back exam result. only took 1 subject this semester. and i didn't go for any tutorial. did go for 2 out of 6 lectures. that's it basically. did my own reading. submitted the required 3 essays (last-minute work, as usual!) and read notes as revision for exams with my godbro at airport. didn't even apply for 2-day exam leave which i am entitled to. i went to school and taught as usual. rushed down to uni after school dismissal, had a quick bite at canteen, entered exam hall, wrote whatever i could remember and promptly left 30 minutes before end of exam! koz i didn't want to be stuck in jam! pretty slack, rite?

and guess my grade?

i.e. Grade Point Value of 4.5!

new logo for my cub scout unit. hq has already approved the logo and i made order for 300 badges and 100 scarves this morning. will get them by end-January - in time for next year Founders Day! the boys better behave or else no badges for them! LOL!
